About This Webinar
This session introduces participants to NAMI’s comprehensive suite of Youth and Young Adult (YYA) initiatives and resources designed to support mental health literacy, youth leadership, and school/community partnerships across developmental stages. Participants will explore initiatives serving ages K–25, including:
- Meet Little Monster - A mental health coloring and activity book that provides children with a tool for helping express and explore their feelings in a fun, creative and empowering way.
- The Mindful Me Series by NAMI - accessible and ready-to-use activities that address identifying and navigating big feelings and emotions as well as helping to develop coping skills and self-care for three grade levels: K-2, 3-5, 6-8.
- NAMI Creative MindSets - fostering youth expression and resilience through art and creativity activities for middle and high school students.
- NAMI Trauma-InSight - A free, self-paced virtual training course designed for youth serving professionals that covers the principles of trauma awareness.
- FLARE: Flexible Learning for Adolescent Resiliency Education - FLARE is a free, research-based, adaptable, open-access Mental Health Literacy Curriculum for Middle School Students
- NAMI Next Gen - 12-member advisory group that represents the voices of youth and young adults across the country.
- NAMI CHANGE Makers – NAMI CHANGE (Community Healing Activations for Next Gen Empowerment) Makers supports young advocates in leading mental health conversations and activations in their communities to enact change.
- NAMI on Campus - Student-led college and high school mental health awareness clubs
Through a brief overview of each initiative, attendees will see real-world examples of youth advisory engagement, mental health curriculums and activities, trauma-informed training options, and campus-based mental health clubs. The session will include interactive discussion and Q&A to help participants reflect on their own settings and identify entry points for youth programming and collaboration. The session concludes with a guided walk-through of available tools, curricula, and implementation supports. Participants will leave with practical strategies and a clearer understanding of how to build meaningful youth mental health engagement in their schools and communities.
