About This Lesson

This week-long cybersecurity lesson introduces elementary students, including those with learning disabilities, to real-life digital safety through hands-on and family-connected activities. Students learn how online risks work, such as outdated apps and weak passwords, and explore how devices in their own homes connect to the internet. Through simple investigations like checking Wi-Fi devices, creating graphs, and completing a home device safety check, students build awareness of how to protect their personal information. The lesson uses clear visuals, guided supports, and family involvement to help students understand and apply what they learn. It ends with students sharing simple safety tips and practicing responsible digital habits at home. This lesson was created by the author based on what they learned from the GenCyber Summer Teacher Program.
